Situation

DivDat is a leader in the emerging field of Preferential Communications through the development of CashLINC and other product innovations that embrace Web-based and other new technologies to seamlessly integrate a company's entire communications platform. Their proprietary data integration, notification, and response system is a comprehensive receivables management communications tool for clients in the credit and collections, utilities, financial services, insurance, and telecommunications industries.

DivDat is a longtime customer of Coretek's, and they needed to modernize and mature their environment to meet the demands of their business. Coretek recommended an App Modernization engagement to determine the best approach to modernize DivDat's applications in Microsoft Azure.

Solution

DivDat has two applications that Coretek assessed during the Application Modernization engagement. After the assessment was complete, Coretek determined that the best approach was to migrate the less complex application first because the Customer needed to move quickly. The Customer was surprised and pleased that the application required very little remediation for migration. After remediation, Coretek performed a gap analysis on DivDat's current Azure environment to ensure it was configured correctly for the modernization project. Coretek also integrated the Customer's DevOps processes to enable their development team to deploy directly to Azure using Azure DevOps. Workloads were designed based on Microsoft's guidance for Well-Architected workloads and industry best practices.

After modernizing the application leveraging Azure App Services, Coretek performed testing to ensure the environment was prepared for the production and SQL workload migration. Lastly, to monitor the application's health, Coretek implemented Azure App Insights to test and monitor the application proactively.

Impact

This application modernization project has helped the DivDat development team gain new confidence in running their production applications on Azure native services while using familiar toolsets like Azure DevOps and Visual Studio. Because DivDat's customers depend on their payment services to be highly available and resilient, this modernization project has provided the foundation for exiting on-prem infrastructure and expanding their Azure footprint further while delivering the best possible experience to their customers.
