Situation
The energy and utilities industries are highly regulated around security requirements. Because of an inability to obtain a significant operations budget, the customer needed a cloud architecture they could purchase using their capital budget. They also needed to meet datacenter requirements for hosting the investment inside their own datacenter while accessing the benefits of cloud computing and scalability.
Solution
Coretek Services architected and recommended a new market technology from Dell & Microsoft called Azure Stack. This technology allows the customer to capitalize on the investment, host the physical rack inside their solely owned datacenter, and leverage standardization via Azure software to align with their current Azure Public Cloud strategy.
Impact
With this solution, the customer can continue to standardize their infrastructure, retire disparate legacy technology, and reduce the overall cost of business by consolidating platforms and skillsets for their organization. They can now scale and grow at the pace needed to become the #1 Energy Provider by 2020. Coretek is in the process of migrating over 800 servers to Azure and Azure Stack for this customer.
